Antonio Alcala designed it for the 2019 entry in the Love series, which the Postal Service has been adding to since the 1970s. The color choices are the whole design: nothing here is arranged into a bouquet or a message, just twelve shapes in a palette picked to read as cheerful rather than romantic.

That distinction matters when you are choosing a stamp.
